Really? That's My Blog Name?

I'm borrowing something a friend of mine says to me, so I hope she'll read my blog when she creates hers and just laugh and laugh and laugh. But, anyway, one of the things I have enjoyed doing my whole life is writing so I thought that this would be a great title as writers often are struggling to get discovered out of the mountain of manuscripts in the slush pile. But, to me Slush Pile sounded too negative, but who doesn't enjoy a good slushy? So, I took a little of the edge off (yeah I know...put up your red pen...I know I ended this sentence with a preposition already).

My goal is to submit a story by the end of the year. I've had a real mental block about being rejected even though I know everyone gets rejected.

I've worked at OCLS for just over a year now and have worked at a used bookstore, an independent bookstore, a chain bookstore, taught high school English, delivered pizzas, sacked groceries, and worked at my family's accounting firm. I've lived in the Austin area, Denver, Little Rock, Abilene (TX), and Houston.

Enough about me...what do you know?

Sometimes I wonder what I know. I wanted to live in Austin. I had plans to go to UTA, but Seattle called and you just don't refuse Uncle Billy. The Seattle gig didn't pan out but I was permanently distracted and never made it to UTA. I would love to check out the SxSW festival someday.

Great first post - glad that you are here!

Here are a few extra Ls in case that one goes missing again. You can just add them in where you need them.

I've never been to Austin, but I watched Austin City Limits when Beck performed. I hear it's a great place. My favorite soy candles come straight from a little shop in Austin called Ecolight Candles.
