This may not be what I was meant to get from all the articles on copyright and DRM, but here is all I could think. Lawyers will continue to get more and more involved on both sides of the equation and at some point, it will be the AOLs of the world vs. the ABCs of the world and it what will be lost is the art and the music and the poem in the mix. The 21st century cliche is that in the future, whoever controls the information will be the power brokers. You already are seeing this idea of the individual voice on the web or in society in a constant struggle against the larger political or religious or capitalist organization.
One of the most interesting things in the article was the part where a DJ at a country club party or restaurant owner who plays music needs to have permission to play anything they play, but if I go to a friends with albums in my arm, I wouldn't. I'm thinking most of the DJs I've known didn't have those permissions (now granted, I didn't ask to see them before I danced to INXS or New Order....what? don't mock me..)
Also, it seems that the laws regarding all of this could get so complex (if they aren't already) that the layperson would not possibly be able to keep up and could violate copyright or DRM without even knowing it.
